The narrow blade is the useful bit. It goes into packed soil like a wedge instead of shoving it, which matters when you're working ground that hasn't been turned in a while or squeezing between plants that are already established.

Use it to break up compacted earth, lift weeds out with the root still attached, or work fertiliser down into the soil rather than leaving it sitting on top. The tapered shape does the digging for you, so there's less brute force involved than with a standard wide trowel.

The handle is lacquered oak, which feels good in the hand and stands up to being left out longer than it should be. The blade is finished in a soft moss green that looks right against a garden bed and makes the thing easier to find when you inevitably put it down somewhere. Overall length is 285mm.
