Satoshi Nakagawa

Under the tutelage of Kenichi Shiraki for almost 16 years, Satoshi Nakagawa is now creating knives of his own that live up to all expectations. His ability to work with a wide range of steels to consistently high-quality is seeing his name rapidly rise to being one of the most well-respected in Sakai.

Blade Type

The Sujihiki knife, a traditional Japanese slicer, is designed for carving and fileting. With its long, narrow blade, typically ranging from 240mm to 330mm, it excels in creating clean, smooth cuts through meat and fish. Its length ensures long, uninterrupted strokes, making it perfect for precise slicing tasks.

Steel Type

Blue Steel is a traditional, high-carbon steel made by Hitachi Metals in Japan. It is the favourite steel of many knife makers and chefs across the world for it’s fantastic edge holding ability, toughness, and ease of sharpening. It contains few stainless elements, and as such will develop a patina, and may develop rust spots if left wet after use.
